.NET/Compact.NET

.NET technology allows developers to build, implement, and apply secure, connected solutions with Web services. .NET is ideal for development software projects that require data and functional integration over a network, including XML Web services, Web-based applications and smart client applications, employing standard protocols such as HTTP, XML, and SOAP.

The .NET Compact Framework brings the strengths of the .NET Framework to devices. This framework is tailored for programs running on resource-constrained computing devices such as PDA’s and cell phones. The .NET Compact Framework allows hardware and OS independence, supports standard protocols, and connects smoothly with XML services.

PROJECT
Access Softek has been working with .NET since its inception. While Compact.NET was still in Beta, Microsoft relied on the Access Softek team to provide a “showcase” application with Symbol Technologies for a high-profile technology conference. The Access Softek team developed a complex conference registration and check-in system leveraging Compact.Net capabilities. The system allows bar codes to be scanned with wireless handheld scanners and PDAs from Symbol, connecting that information wirelessly with a server and network printers. Working with the .NET architecture and the Compact.Net calls, the application connects mobile devices with a database, and sends registration confirmations to printers quickly and smoothly. The system developed for this project is still in use at Microsoft technology conferences all over the world.
